If the expander is fitting well around the baby tooth and the tooth is not mobile, it should be ok. Some orthodontists routinely use expanders on the baby molars, especially on children less than 7 years old.

my 6 yr old daughter just had her expander installed. They had trouble getting the band around the left adult molar and put it on the tooth just forward instead. As a result the expander is at an angle. Will she still have the desired result of a wider upper palate?
